Bryan's Story
On August 5, 2017, a tiny baby boy named Bryan was born, weighing just 5 pounds, 12 ounces. He was sent home from the hospital only 24 hours later, a fragile beginning to what would become a powerful testimony.
His mother, Cynthia, was born on April 2, 2005, and was only 12 years and 5 months old when Bryan was born. Still a child herself, she stepped into motherhood with courage she didn’t know she had. The odds were stacked against them from the very beginning.
In those early years, survival was uncertain. There were days when Bryan’s entire meal consisted of half a tortilla. Hunger was not temporary; it was daily. His little body felt the effects of what it lacked.
When Bryan turned five, everything began to change. SendMe Refuge stepped into his life. What started as food assistance became something far greater; it became hope. It became consistency. It became love in action.
At six years old, Bryan became critically ill. His already small frame lost 14 pounds, 2 ounces. Watching him fade was heartbreaking. That is when he was brought to the orphanage, where he received 24-hour care for eight months, medical treatment, therapy, and nourishing meals. Around-the-clock compassion began restoring what hunger and sickness had taken.
But the story didn’t stop there.
Bryan returned home stronger. And in a beautiful act of restoration, Cynthia was hired to work at the feeding center. Now, instead of wondering where the next meal would come from, she helps provide meals for others. Instead of standing outside hope, she is now part of delivering it.
Today, Bryan weighs 32 pounds. He is gaining strength. He is continuing therapy. He is surrounded by care. And we believe, with unwavering faith, that 2026 will be the year Bryan walks.
This is more than a story about food.
More than a story about illness.
More than a story about poverty.
It is a story about transformation.
It is about a young mother who refused to give up.
It is about a child who continues to fight.
It is about a community that chose to step in rather than look away.
Where there was hunger, there is provision.
Where there was weakness, there is strength.
Where there was despair, there is living hope.
Bryan’s life is proof that when compassion meets commitment, and when faith is put into action, miracles begin to unfold. Our God is an AWESOME GOD!
And his story is still being written.
